how to feel confident in 5 steps
How to feel confident in five steps but not just any steps these steps are backed by research and proven to work.
Do you doubt the value feeling of confident? I bet no. In fact, research shows people often prefer feeling confident over actual expertise.
1. Surround Yourself With People Who Believe in You
The phenomenon called a “self-fulfilling prophecy,”.
When somebody you appreciate and respect tell you are good on something, you believe it. If you believe you can do something, you work harder, and when others believe in you, they push you to work harder.
The lesson here is: Your social setting can strongly affect what you believe is possible—and that will affect your confidence, the effort you put in, and the results you achieve.
2. Build Expertise and Authority
The most natural method to feel confident is when it’s done from the position of authority. All of us have the tendency to listen carefully to expert and believe basically whatever they tell us because they know what they are talking about.
Building expertise will certainly put you in front row seat among the elites; In some situation it is the lack of information which kills confident.
First you need to discover your strengths and passions and then turn them into expertise.
3. Concentrate on Learning
When you concentrate on learning, failure is simply another part of the learning curve and will not shake your self-confidence.
A research of Carol Dweck, “growth mindset”: concluded that you should measure yourself by effort, not by results.
And you should be proud of any result that follows hard work—even when the result is not what you had hoped.
4. Produce a Ritual.
What gets you in the mood? What gets you feeling prepared? A research study from Harvard teachers Michael Norton and Francesca Gino reveals that routines have the power to make you feel confident. What the research have found is that if you engage in a routine prior to a potentially high-anxiety task, you end up being calmer by the time you approach the task and more confident in what you’re about to do. As a result of that, you actually perform better
5. Accumulate Small Wins.
Daniel Chambliss researched the techniques used by USA Swimming team to get their athletes ready to compete in the Olympic games.
One of the common goal of the programme was to focus on a series of “small wins” in training rather than on the larger goal of winning a medal.
As Chambliss summarized it, the swimmers programme of trainings is as follow: One week they work on a better start, another week to polish up their backstroke technique, and the week after that planning how to pace their swim.” As a result, they got the satisfaction from a “very definable, small achievements,” which in turn gave them the confidence to attempt more small wins each and every day.
Yes, some people are naturally superconfident. Others fake it.
And you can feel confident too by implementing the steps above.
What did Alfred Binet, the inventor of the IQ test, say about intelligence?
It is not always the people who start out the smartest who end up the smartest.
The same is true of confidence.
So that is what is.
If you have read till here and tell me what you think about these steps? Will they work for you? Do you have anything other to add here?
Thanks might God bless you.
